What strings come standard on the Ric 4003?

Post by leroy_la_qua »

I recently purchased a Ric 4003 and am at the point where i need to replace the strings for the first time. I really like the sound of the strings that came standard on it. What brand are they? and where can i get them?

Yes please. Just out of curiosity are there any other brands that i might be able to buy locally that you feel have a similar feel/tone to the Ric strings that come standard.

I don't think the RIC strings sound like D'addarios at all. They remind me of SIT Power Wounds.

You can get the RIC set from Rhoads Music for $20 a set http://members.aol.com/RhoadsMusi/rickaccessories.html

I swear by D'Addarion XL-170's. The new Rick strings that came on my 4003BB feel nearly identical, except for tension. The Rick strings feel a little more flexible to me. I like them though, so much I left the set on my Blue Boy.

I have DR Low Riders on all my Ricks except my new 4004 Cii. However, I really like the feel of the strings on my new 4004 and I’m seriously considering moving to the RIC strings when replacement is needed!
