Before Beatlemania hit, The Globe Theatre was rockin.
Stockton-on-Tees once boasted one of the most prestigious venues in the North East, The Globe Theatre. This massive theatre, which still stands today forlorn and neglected once hosted stars like Buddy Holly, Cliff Richard, The Animals, Status Quo and most famously The Beatles in 1963 on the night President Kennedy was assassinated. Today although the building still stands, it has been closed down since 1975 as a theatre but thanks to the massive archive collected by Remember When fan Barry Jones of Stockton we can have a look back at its golden age.

Another rare photograph, this time of The Beatles back stage at The Globe with an unnamed fan. This photograph was not taken on the fateful night in 1963 but almost a year later in October 1964.

The Globe as it appears today, it seems amazing that something can't be done with this building that was once the focal point of so much entertainment for Teesside folk.

I often wonder about people, like the woman above, who have pictures of themselves posing with all four Beatles. I'd probably take it with me to job interviews...couldn't hurt.

In the photo with the unnamed fan, the coat John is wearing looks like the same one from the famous Yesterday and Today paste over cover.

That's not a Beatles album; it's a Capitol album with Beatles songs on it.

American album with songs left over from the American Help!, Rubber Soul and Revolver albums, plus a single for good measure.

That is "a" striped jacket, but it is not "the" striped jacket. In the still photos, there are two narrow, parallel, darker stripes on the lighter background that are
not seen on the jacket in the news conference footage. He obviously liked that general style, if even for only five minutes. :D

GOOD POINT... !

"Yesterday" and Today compiled tracks from The Beatles' two most recent British LPs which had not yet been included on American albums, plus three from their upcoming UK LP:

* from the UK LP Help!, the tracks "Act Naturally" and "Yesterday" (earlier issued by Capitol as a single)
* from the UK LP Rubber Soul, the tracks "Nowhere Man" and "What Goes On" (also earlier issued by Capitol as a single), plus "Drive My Car" and "If I Needed Someone".[3]
* both sides of the single "Day Tripper" / "We Can Work It Out"
* from the upcoming UK LP Revolver, the tracks "I'm Only Sleeping", "Doctor Robert", and "And Your Bird Can Sing", issued here in duophonic mixes (see below).[4]
