Bridge pup baseplate

I am installing a Bartolini bridge pickup, the original being long gone. Meaning, I don't have one of those baseplates to attach it to that will allow for height adjustment. Searches so far have been fruitless...does anyone know of a resource to buy one? Or will i just end up fabricating one?

They show up on ebay from time to time.

I think it might be easy to make your own the way RIC used to (before the change to plastic in 1973). They were just a flat aluminum bar...Cut the ends to a triangular point, drill holes and tap threads.

I seem to remember someone, perhaps even John Hall, saying you could actually buy them from RIC. I also seem to remember seeing them in the boutique over there, but they don't appear to be there any more. It would probably be worthwhile to contact RIC customer service and ask, I know they do sell parts that aren't listed in the boutique...

jlane...i've got one if you can't find one. it's a plastic one from the re-issue horseshoe pickup.

I am getting ready to fabricate one I just need to get the dimensions of the bar stock. My guess is 1.5" or 1.75" by 0.1875" I don't need the length.

Certainly you can make a mounting plate . . . or just order a 03604 base plate from the boutique. As mentioned earlier, I had the holes put in this part years ago to use it precisely in this fashion and have several of my own basses converted this way with humbuckers.

As I said, I couldn't find them in the boutique, but they might sell you one anyway...

Good idea. Try calling RIC. I know of other parts that RIC sells that don't appear for sale in the boutique.

i've still got a plastic baseplate available from the '86 vintage re-issue horsey if anyone needs it.

also, my MJ-4844 had an aluminum base plate and my friends '74 has an aluminum one as well that came with a toaster. my OI-6259 '75 had plastic. i just recently discovered when i stripped down my buddy's totalled rickenfaker that i had mistakenly installed into his bass my neck pickup from MJ-4844 ! i was going to originally give him a '75 pickup from my spares but accidentally gave him the wrong one ! glad i got it back.( i put the ser # in sharpie on the bottom of the magnet )
