I had the chance to play this bass as well recently and can answer some of the questions asked earlier in this thread.

First the good: It seemed all original, with a nice bright red color (not orangish like the picture) and black binding/trim. The weigh and balance were very good. It seemed nicely resonant unamplified and plugged in had the typical Rickenbacker sound. I could find no dead spots or string imbalance issues. The neck was fast and slim, very mid 70's 4001 like.

Now the bad: The set up wasn't very good. The neck had way too much relief in it, which I hope the truss rod would be able to straighten out. It was strung with roundwounds and look like it had been for a while. The fretboard finish was worn off in many places into the underlying wood. It would definitely need to be recoated. Since this was Guitar Center, they couldn't find the original case (but offered to get me a new replacement that would fit it  ). Also, there was some corrosion on the black hardware.

In the end, I passed on it. If anyone has any more questions about it, let me know and I will try to answer them.
