Roger McGuinn's choice of string--then and now.....

Post by leftybass »

I have seen many posts recently on the Beatles' Forum concerning what strings the Beatles used at certain points in their career(s)...What can be said about Roger McGuinn's choice of string on his Rickenbackers from his days in The Byrds to what he prefers today???

In the Byrds, and into the early 80s, Roger used the old Rickenbacker #483 flatwound Maxima strings. Then, until fairly recently, I believe he'd been using current factory stock compressed wound strings. Now he is using Pyramid flats, which are a similar flat to the old 60s Maximas.
