Thanks! I try. Maybe this will make up for all the times that I've been a jerk!

8)

That's fine with me, but that means that one of you will have to pay the other one.

Whatever you decide.

BTW...This might be common sense, but...It looks like this item will probably be great for any 4003 made after 1991 or so (when RIC switched to the current molded plastic hi-gain pickup bobbin). The earlier ones from the 70's and especially the 80's are hand-cut and very irregular. I would think that these bezel things would need to be modified to fit on some (probably most) of the pre-1991 pickups.

i.e. Some of my pre-1991 bridge pickups are tall on top, some short on top, some are flat on top, some are round on top, some are non-symmetrical, etc. They may not all be similar, but all of them rock the house!

I agree. For all the incessant whining that certain members of this forum (most of whom have since either left or were kicked out!) used to do about RIC's "antiquated" tailpiece/bridge, the gaping hole around the treble pickup, the giant bridge pickup surround, Rick O Sound, and the string mute...These features are all a big part of the look and sound that make these basses so unique and desirable.
I agree. I look at the Laredo or Cheyenne basses and they look naked. And I have a Cheyenne.

I too like the traditional 4001 bling...which is why I modded my 4004 Cii. Paul Boyer took this pic a couple years ago at the SoCal Rickenfest.

The bridge pickup surround was cut from the surround off of a Ricky lapsteel, just like RIC did back in the day. It's actually made out of chrome plated brass too. I got it from fellow forumite Mark Walker and cut it myself. He had another one on Ebay a couple of years ago and someone here called it a fake and a repop, even though it was made from a real Ricky part in exactly the same way as the originals were. I think the resulting bruhaha here affected it's final sales price. Funny thing about that was that the person who questioned it's authenticity purchased a Ricky horseshoe bass pickup on Ebay that was assembled from NOS RIC parts for over $1200.00 :!:

I made something very similar for a customer's 4003 8 string conversion out of white backed clear plexi.

I Understood he won't unless you take 10 minimum. Someone at a Dutch bassguitarist forum I frequently visit organizes ordering 10 at the moment. :)
