I'm looking forward to getting my 4003 FG that I have on order, even more so now after seeing Paul's pictures. Congrats to you also, Paul! :)

Are my eyes deceiving me or do the upper bout long horns look narrower then they have in the recent decades past?

I noticed that the horns on Collin's new 4003 were somewhat narrower than my old 4001 .... I don't know when they made the change though .

You've got good eyes, John. Yes the upper horn is slightly narrower than before. In fact, my 4003 JG made in the 1st week of May 2009 has the new narrow upper horn as well.

Thanks for clarifying, Paul. I just noticed these - like back in the 60s, don't you think?

Jeff, I see the upper part of your big bout a tad wider than the one Paul posted, and those I found at POTR. What say ye?

I think that is just the angle the basses are photographed, but we need to do an on-hand comparison.

Paul, come on by this Sunday for dim sum. :!:

Tony can come along, too. Tony? Oh, Tonyyyyyyyyyyy?

The pickguard is a custom Pickguardian made with the same material as the FW inlays. :D I also had Tony make one in the standard translucent white material, which is on the bass currently. Here is a closer shot of the body.
