New to Forum

Post by Rickenhands »

Hello!

Just a quick note to say hello to all you fine folks on the forum, as I'm a new member. I'm also happy to announce that I'm finally a proud Rickenbacker 4003 owner! I landed a new MID 4003 two weeks ago, and it's an absolutely wonderful instrument all around (playability, sound, etc...). Why did I wait so long???!!

Better late than never, for sure! Alrighty, back to playing...

Peace.
Man, I love my Ric!

Welcome aboard! It's never too late to get hooked! I finally scored a 4001 in 2002 after an 18 year wait! Enjoy!

Thanks, Hieronymous! Though, I've been hooked for a while...back to 1981-ish, as Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, Paul McCartney, etc... are my earliest rock idols. I used to draw pictures of Geddy's 4001 when I was a kid in school. I've had many a dream of owning a Ric over the last 27 years. I've played a fretless for almost all of those years. My other bass (custom Benavente 5-string fretless) kept me happy/busy, but I sure didn't know what I was missing. My next basses will only be Rickenbackers (no slight on my Benavente). Next in my sights is a 4003 FL. Onward and upward!

Oh yes...back to playing my sweet new Ric!

Welcome to the RRF, and to the world of Ricks! Yeah, the 4003FL is great, unfortunately they're a bit hard to find. There are a few of 'em out there, even new ones...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Hi John, welcome!

The Ric thing is hard to resist - I tried to live without, and only lasted about 6 months without one!

As for the fretless, try E-bay UK. There's a couple on there right now.

In fact, the blueboy FL was a buy it now for £1000. Bargain - someone snapped it up, and relisted it for about £1800!

It's been a few weeks, and he's dropped it by about £400 now.

Probably still a bargain - looks lovely....but I don't need a fretless or I'd be in there! :D

Wow! That's a beauty, alright! Boy, wouldn't that look lovely next to my MID 4003? Alas, my wife would have none of it given my recent purchase. The good thing is that I'm persistent. I'll eventually have my prize...
