Despite my early Tuesdays nights due to seriously early Wednesday morning meetings, I took the S/5 apart and tried this.

My toaster doesn't fit through the opening in the bezel. I'm not sure the S/5 toaster is any wider than any other toaster but it was too wide to fit. Buttering the toasters hips won't get it through either.

The bridge pickup doesn't have a chrome cover on it. The toaster, or high gain does. The cover makes the pickup bigger. That's why it doesn't fit.

but it can be modified just like the other things some of us do to our ricks, eh ? a little dremel work and, voila ! (i ruined it ! )


and also remember that there are different under string coil shapes, rectangular early '70's, rounder '80's, and then the v63 with the horseys off. that's a big coil. and these looked like they were hand finished on a belt sander so the shaping may be slightly off here and there.

I would love to get one for my '76 4001 with horseshoe minus shoes. I agree that a chrome option would also be nice.

Assuming they don't decide to make one of these to fit the larger horseshoe and S5 bridge pickup bobbins, I'll bet you could enlarge the opening with a Dremmel tool using the mini sanding drum attachment.

I'm not sure I follow this. Mine works with an S/5.

Yeah, I thought the bobbins for the 4 and 5 string coils were the same one but with more holes.
