Any decent guitar shops in UK?

Post by faustus »

Right now i have my big 'ol eyes open for a new 12-string Ric. And, of course you'll find most of them over in the US of A, on Ebay etc etc. Unfortunately customs and duties for importing from the US makes it quite an expensive story. If you buy from the UK you don't have to deal with that. So, does any of you brits (or anyone within the EU) have any suggestions where to look for used Rics?

All guitar shops should be avoided.
Without exception they a full of numb nut assistants wearing Nirvana T shirts, with upside down crucifixes around their necks, who will try to convince you that the nobby no name rubbish guitar leads that they sell are just as good as high end professional cables.
And they will claim that Rickenbacker are to blame for the 2 year waiting list for a hip replacement on the NHS.

Essentially Rob is right walking into Glasgows Gartnavel hospital you will find many a pensioner clutching a Fender protesting that the single truss rod far out lasts a Cobalt-chrome or Titanium replacement.

To be serious for a moment.....
If you are buying new, then Peter Cooks (who Scotty mentioned) are usually the cheapest, and most people seem to have a fairly positive experience when dealing with them.
Good luck! :)

Used Rics in shops are pretty rare for the UK in my experience and mostly (but not universally) high priced compared to auction sites (due to the rent/rates etc. I guess).

I haven't bought a new Ric since the prices went up and up (and up) and probably won't unless they bring out Burgundyglo or White as an option again - but I've done OK on the used market.

Are you looking for a 330, 360 or any particular Ric 12 string Jimmy?

I got my 330 BB from an UK webshop called "Imuso.co.uk" back in 2006, at that time best price in Europe: fast delivery, no problem, everything's ok :D

Well, i am looking for a 360/12v64, 360/12c63 or a 360WB. So i guess i won't be buying a new one. But maybe i could settle for a standard 360, if i get the feeling.
