Use It or Lose It

Post by westaussie »

I just put a new set of strings on my 1998 prior to packing it for shipping. Couldn't get the strings I wanted at my local retailer so I made do with what he had available, - that meant I needed to re-set the intonation.
Dragged out an amp from the spare room and spent a couple of very enjoyable hours playing in the new strings before r-checking the intonation. Perfect.

I did notice, however, that there was a problem with the guitar, - it missed the odd note and fumbled the occasional chord. ....... what's that you say? It's not the guitar, its the player?
Hmmm ..... I'm afraid you're right ...... it's getting on for 20 years since I did any serious guitar work and my playing skills have moved from being merely awful to totally abominable. :(

Had a good time though, - there's something magical about brand new strings, because they sound better I always felt I was playing better. ..... just take a seat over there Mr Emmanual and I'll show you how it's done :D :D :D

New Strings and a Rickenbacker, ...... it's good for the soul.

New strings is the cheapest way to getting a new guitar (apart from nicking one  )

Make sure that you get yourself a nice 330 or 360 to play once the old one has gone too!

Hey Vic, excuse my tardiness, but welcome to the forum from another Aussie Rick-addict.
I've just clocked 5 years here, great site, and even greater people. :D
I'd be interested to get a total number of Australian members here.
