Re: A "Fire"-storm of Controversy

Oh dear.... All this talk of fireglo has caused me to break down and go into a frenzy of fireglo photography this morning.

Here are four of my fine fireglos by the fireplace: my 1990 360/12V64, 1979 330 VP, 1967 365, and in the front, my 1985 230 Hamburg. I'll forgive it for being clownglo; its birdseye maple is incredible. 8)

After getting these guitars out of their cases I realized that I just HAD to photograph each one individually... So stay tuned, there are more pics to come! Am I FireGloating?

Dang, I'd forgotten how much I love this forum, LOL!

Close ups of my 230 Hamburg. I can't believe I haven't taken the time to take and post some really good pictures of it until now! Maybe there's a reason for that....

I like the description, Firegloating. If I had all of those, I'd gloat too.

My 360/12v64. IMO, this is the "perfect Fireglo." Note the subtle flaming across the body.

Absolutely gorgeous Mel.
It doesn't look like it's ever been played. :D

One day I will have a 6 string V64.

One day.................

Oh, it gets played, Rob! Maybe just not nearly enough, since I have so many options!

Here is my only true vintage Ric: My 1967 365. It is perhaps my sweetest player, and the ultra-slender neck feels like it was custom-made to fit my hand. Only a few minor dings and scratches, and its finish is naturally ambered and slightly faded. I love this guitar.

I can't seem to capture it with the camera, but this guitar also has some subtle birdseye on its face, especially on the upper horn.

Nice to see you posting so much and FireGlo seems to suit you Melissa. :D Your 360v64 is stunning!

Thanks for the compliments, everyone.... You're all reminding me of how much I've missed this place!

Last in my morning photo session was my 1979 330 VP, a really odd Fireglo. The shading lightens just ever so slightly in the middle of the guitar; it almost isn't a burst at all. I wonder if this is a unique spray pattern, or if there are others like it somewhere out there. Also, the toasters are extremely hot and do not jangle at all--in fact this guitar is a rocker that can SCREAM! Kind of like playing toaster-buckers.

My husband picked this one up about a year and a half ago when he was perusing Japanese eBay--the price was really fair, even factoring in the overseas shipping. It came missing the top on the treble volume knob.

Just found another picture of my 365 with a 360/12 I used to have that I sold to another forumite a few years back. I really liked the shade of the fireglo on that guitar: it was really rich and dark at the edges, almost becoming brownish (but definitely in the FG spectrum) and a little bit pinkish in the center. It really was a pretty guitar, but kind of hard to tell in this picture. It was taken "four computers ago" back when we had a crummy camera. Sorry the photo is so small!

Melissa, although I consider your behavior to be major "FireGlo Grandstanding", I do love that 330 VP ! I had never seen that one before. It's almost Fire-No-Glo.
