I could kick myself - I had a '70s 4001 FG that was in that condition, but I didn't know how to adjust the truss rods and it was all messed up, so off it went. Checkerbound with CP inlays! Oh well.

Some of my Rics have their share of wear, let me find some pics.

Maybe you can't tell from this photo, but it is really. Beat. Up.

I love a nice, honest patina that's infused with lots of love. I'll call it "Battleglo". 8)

I don't have a pic of the back, but it's got the buckle spot on it.

Hard to see the wear on this 4001S in this pic. Up close, it looks someone painted it with a spray can and a brush...well that's probably what someone did!
This baby rocks!

I respectfully disagree. Because this is a Rickenbacker thread, I won't post any pictures of my 1967 Gibson ES-335TDC here, but I can tell you that I have played it, so it has some 'battle scars', but it still looks great because I have loved it and taken good care of it over the 41 years that I have owned it. :)

My "beater" '76 has a similar issue:
Neck4.JPG
It's been repaired and seems quite stable, even with Rotosounds
Other than that, it's got a number of dings and chips, amateurishly repaired with some sort of dark blue stuff:

All in all, it's a great player. Maybe some day I'll get it refinished...

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

At least it's still in the SoCal Rick family and you get get to see it sometimes, even play it if you wanted to. :)
