The T.A.M.I. Show, 1964

Post by wmthor »

I watched the T.A.M.I. Show on PBS last night. To my poor eyes, it looked like Carl Wilson was using a 360/12 with an "F" Hole.

I want the DVD.

Great performance, and love that 330S/12. You can hear it so well in this recording. I wonder where that guitar is now...anyone know?

It seems like it must be a 330S/12, but look at the 'guard by the neck p/up, best visible at about the 1:00 mark during the guitar solo. Instead of coming to a point, the 'guard looks like it's been squared off, kind of like a 381.

There's a few good shots of Carl's '64 330S/12 on the RickResource.com Artists master list.

Here's a pic from another thread of the 330S-12 with the 'guard appearing to be slightly cut off by the neck p/up:

I always wondered the story behind how Carl ended up with a rare S model, that early on....?

He even took it with him to the UK in '64, where he could have purchased a Rose Morris.

btw.....I Get Around is one of the greatest songs ever. Seriously. :)

Wow..... I saw the T.A.M.I. show in a movie theater when it came out. I've been looking for a copy since VHS came out. Good to hear it'll be on DVD.

For me, it's "Warmth of the Sun". Absolutely beautiful.
