Being the frets are straight I believe it is a 480.

Here's one in Walnut. http://www.rickenbacker.com/gallery_ima ... _year=1970

Actually John, the frets are are slanted on the one in the clip. But the bigger giveaway is the BIG humbuckers, bound body, and fretboard inlays. That is a 481.

I guess - they don't look as slanted as these: http://www.rickenbacker.com/gallery_ima ... _year=1970

Or my eyes are off.... :D

Saw these guys open up for Oasis at the Hollywood Bowl a few years back. Great set, and a cool show!.

Sergio Pizzorno plays a 481, with binding, a flat neck, those HUGE humbuckers, and slanted frets. He paid £650 for it, according to NME.

Sounds about right...until Serge started showing up on videos with his 481 (2005), you could find them for $500-600 here in the USA. They doubled in value rapidly, taking the humbler Model 480 along for the ride. Although I don't save Ebay values except in my head, it seems to me that this is one Rickenbacker guitar that hasn't taken a value hit in the last couple of years. Right now they're approaching 3X the 2005 values.

Sergio on his Rick: "I'm lucky no one has played this make of Rickenbacker before ? people don't like its natural distortion ? so I've got my signature guitar, too. I don't want to sound all Spinal Tap, but my guitar and me? It's a spiritual thing, man."

More proof about not only the power of "star power," but that the vintage guitar market will survive in the future.......but perhaps just different guitars will be emphasized (as the "cool" guitars of people's favorite players are different).

Is there maybe some close up picture of slanted frets?
I couldn't find any decent picture on google of a slanted fret example

Those frets are very flat right?

The slanted frets on 481s can be missed in some photos if you don't know what you're looking for...

You can barely notice them from this angle:

But they become a bit more obvious when you see the whole picture:

And in a headstock closeup, they really catch your eye:

(I don't know what I'd do if this 481 was missing its TRC...)
