The guy who runs Rondo has a pretty good rep over on the lefty forums. I've even considered one of these P90 equipped guitars.
... and considering the Gibby original of that can be had for only a couple more hundred bucks, that's saying a lot!

THAT is just WRONG Jim!

Let me tell you, being on the receiving end of a MRS who was TOLD "Tony made me do it" isn't fun!
Yeah, I know. I tried the line on her "I have all these guitars because God told me I could only have one wife." She just gave me one of her dumb looks, and said "I don't get it."

I bought a Jay Turser 6 string shaped like a Beatle bass from Costco for just over 200 bucks. Has a neck to die for and can achieve a bitchen surf tone.

This is very intriguing, Jerry...

I've had a bitchen passel of surf guitars ranging from a couple of Eastwoods to Fender Jags, Jazzmasters, Duo-Sonics, and a couple of Strats. Then a Dano, a Hallmark Sweptwing, yadda, yadda.

These vary in adherence to what I would call "surf tone", which is a kind of narrow range defined by the vintage '64 Jag / Carl Wilson sound of "Let's Go Trippin'" through the '64 Mosrite / Ventures snarl of "Ventures in Space" and anything Dick Dale has done with his Strats.

One Eastwood makes the grade, along with my CIJ Jaguar fitted with Curtis Novak "Vintage" Jag pups. Both Strats are in the ballpark (one is a Dick Dale with Fender Custom Shop '59 pups, the other a 50th anny "Mary Kay" Custom Shop. My old '59 Duo Sonic had it, the replica that I built (now owned by Kira) fell short, but not by much. The Hallmark has the Ventures snarl. My Korean Dano Longhorn 24-fretter comes close. Lipstick pickups. I can hardly wait to hear my Charvel Surfcaster 12 when its done...

But--the Turser? very interesting. What amp and effects, if any?

I've only run it thru my Blues DeVille w/4x10, whatever quality reverb Fender installed on them in the '90's. Perhaps for Surf purists it would fail, but at the time it struck me as very surf. That adenoidal twang. But then again, I haven't listened to "Let's Go Trippin" since, well, it was new! I did catch Muscle Beach Party on the telly the other day!

That's a good looking guitar at a decent price. Agile guitars by all accounts are pretty decent.................8)
