There were some really bad hairstyles during the 80s especially among the androgyonous bubblegum metal and so-called "glam" bands, but there were some cool ones as well; the return of the pompadour and mod cut, as well as the modified shag. Of course there was the Flock of Seagulls `doo, and all of the New Romantic bands with the extreme side parted bangs attempting to mimic Bryan Ferry from Roxy Music's trademark hairstyle.

The 70s had some awful hairstyles as well, along with a prevalence of porn star mustaches.

These guys had some pretty bad hair in the early days

Ummmm. Well, if they were girls, both clothes and haircuts wouldn't look that bad... but they're not girls (still, their hair-do's don't scream, "get a haircut, boy", as loud as some others shown here). If only i could find something like what that guy in the middle is in.
80s, yeah. And modern "emo style", with short back and sides and a fringe so long that it could have served well as a broom. Sorry. Yep, i know it's "fashionable" but to me it looks horrible.
