Stereo output jacks

Hi everyone,
I was wondering where I can get the same type of stereo output jack that are in my 4001's.
I want to have my Fender Jazz Bass converted to mono/stereo output just like my 4001's and the problem that I have is that I have a standard stereo jack but I noticed that the jacks that Rickenbacker used have a second connector for the 1/4" plug instead of the one.
Any help would be great.

The RIC dual jack system has a switched mono jack - It actually ties the two pickups together to create the mono signal when a cable is plugged into it. A single stereo jack will give you stereo output only. You'd have to either install the dual jacks or, if you wanted to use a single jack, construct a special cable to tie the two outputs together if you wanted to run mono. The 1/4" stereo jack should be able to be purchased at your local Radio Shack. Look for a quality Switchcraft jack.

I have a stereo jack, but it appears to not be the same kind as in my 4001.

I am electronics challenged.

The same part will be less expensive from Radio shack (also you avoid a $20 minimum and $8 shipping).

You said in your original post that you want a mono/stereo output just like your 4001. This part will give you stereo output only - You will need RIC's dual output jacks or the special cable I mentioned above if you want to run mono.

This will do the trick, at least for jacks.
You'll need to add a second tone control and selector switch as well.

Yeah, I don't use tone controls and run the pickups at full volume. I'm not interested in a selector switch either.
I just want two volume controls and a mono and stereo output jack.

How come I just cant use the existing mono jack for the mono out and get that stereo jack like the one Rickenbacker sells for the stereo out. I am removing the tone pot so there will be a spot then for both output jacks.
Am I missing something? I dont use tone controls, so I wont need tone pots and I dont think I'll need the selector switch because i run the pickups full volume. The Jazz Bass will then have just two volume controls and two output jacks, one "ric-o-sound" and the other standard mono.

To me it sounds completely do-able. No?

To have stereo output, you have to send each pickup's signal to the jack - Hence the stereo jack. To also have a mono output, you have to tie the two pickups together. The mono jack in the RIC dual jack assembly has a built in switch. When you plug a cable into the mono jack, it closes that switch, connecting the two pickups together.
