Where to start ... any time that a bit of alternative innovation becomes the new mainstream, and then it reaches such a critical mass of Walmartization that it absolutely lacks meaning or even a hint of alterity, well, that's when hairstyles are bad in my book. Here's a perfect example of a cynical attempt to look cool in our own times, although this talented kid (Never Say Never) is so young, he must be considered blameless:



I can't agree with Flock of Seagulls having "bad hair"; hey, at least they weren't boring. Maybe I'm just an old crotchety post-punker, but I remember when band hairstyles were generally a reflection of serious rebelliousness. The hair-metal glam bands in the 80s, part of what always bugged me about their hair was that it more or less recycled mid-70s gender-bending glam on the surface but the music itself was totally conformist.

Having no hair myself, I'd take any hair at all, no matter how bad!
