Rickenbacker NOS Flatwounds

Post by fpauldc »

I recently found a set of NOS Rick flatwound bass strings. My friend Tracy Sands sent them to me a few (2) years ago and I had misplaced them. I installed them on my '73 4001, the only word I can think of to describe the sound and feel of these strings is WOW ! This particular set of flatwounds came "standard" on the model 4001 Bass of the '70's and I believe the latter '60's. At this point in time I only wish I could contact Tracy and accquire a few more sets of this type. These strings are truly remarkable, like a "time warp" if are old enough to remember what a '70's 4001 felt like with original flats. My '73 4001 feels like "magic" once again, I am being very honest with this post, I realize this is only My Opinion but I feel I owe other owners of the 4001 model the chance to experience the same "rush" which came over me during that initial trial. I only wish John Hall would consider this set for the new "C" series 4001's, you will not be disappointed ! (Tracy, if you read this post, please contact me via phone, tnx..)
