I'm pretty sure My Bloody Valentine literally caused deafness while playing You Made me Realise live. I didn't see it myself, but have read about it.

It was the most insane 15 minutes of my life. An experience that literally shook my to my core. I really can never truly describe it. THAT was the best concert I ever saw.

Yep. I was lucky enough to see them twice on the tour last year and the 15+ minute noise was great. (It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard at the Coachella show in the desert; the Seattle show was in a gross echo-y multipurpose room and was simply pummeling).

My roommate in college went to the Lush / Ride show. I did something unmemorable instead (like homework or try to find beer). I still regret that.

A friend of mine was at the Philadelphia show (same tour) when Ride got their Ric delivery -- he still obsesses about a 360 black-on-jetglo that was in there.

I missed Ride when I lived in Seattle. I remember seeing a review of the show that was negative and commented that they were all show with there fancy expensive Rickenbackers. I had just bought a 330 at The Trading Musician used for $980. Didn't think that was that extravagent even for me, and I was just learning how to play the guitar. Anyway, I'm sure they moved on from Ricks after Nowhere, but don't know that for sure.

In my opinion, the last two albums were good, but not essential. I didn't really like the flower power Carnival of Light either, but it did have some good songs. The last song couldn't be more of a tribute/ripoff of You can't always get what you want by the Stones. Acoustic guitar and boys choir thrown in. In my opinion children's choir's should be very limited in rock.

yep, and better than 95% of the tripe vomited from the engorged belly of the mainstream music industry today like so much smelly offal.

It was a contrast from the beat-up mustangs/thrift-store guitars in vogue at the time, esp. in Seattle. Nothing like cultivated authenticity...

The Trading Musician is still around, but has recently (after a divorce) split into two stores, with one now in Georgetown.

Oh, I couldn't agree more. I actually really liked those last two albums, especially the second to last. I shouldn't have said anything negative about them, 'cause I really liked them. I just preferred the way they were going with earlier albums, and consider them to be some of the better albums in the history of rock, so the last two had stiff competition as far as I was concerned.

Ride were, in some ways, very very English / foreign / other to US listeners back then. (Basically adored by anglophiles and ignored by the soon-to-be-unwashed masses).
