Yep they make them missing a few strings (TP-8) and a few more strings (TP-4).... :lol:

What you have to toss up is:
Waterstones are built as a 12 string and are well stage tested (Of course by TP) they also work in well with our Rickenbacker tuned ears. (pickup placement is very much the same and they are nicely speced AlNiCo pickups)

Building a 12ver from a 4004 is a lot of work that may or may not be successfull, however you would get a killer 12 string if it works out well.

For the money I'd get the Waterstone first and then see if you want to do a custom Rickenbacker..

I have three Waterstone 12vers and have become very attached to all of them...
