Great find, Chris. I wish I could get so lucky.

1982 is a good year -at least for me. Not many deadspot issues. Both of my "S" models were made then. Can't beat $125. I'm going to try to check Craig's List more than I have been.

John: Right? With this attendance record, I'm liable to get kicked out of school.
Jeff: Lots of good stuff to get through. Just a bit of a delay while debating on format - we're in the clear, now. Still sticking to the original plan of doing a CD + digital distribution. Will keep you posted on the RRF CD3 thread.
(We still have one of those, right?)

Sanding today. Got most of the paint off before the lunch break.
Re: Look-ee what I got today for $125
One boneheaded thing I did- I decided to loosen the truss rods as no strings. One of the rod's nuts had no clearance under it, so I put a flathead screwdriver under it to bend it oh so slightly and CRACK
(I bet some of you saw this coming
). Fretboard separated to the first fret. On the G side it went a bit into the neck wood grain (see pic, line to the left of picture, maybe 1/2 inch) and on the E side it's between the neck wood and the fingerboard wood. So, what's the best way to repair this? Do I need to pull the rods? I see maybe pulling the rods, getting some type of easy flowing glue (superglue?) into the crack by applying downward pressure to open the seam up and filling it up, then clamping till dry.
Re: Look-ee what I got today for $125
If you had to do that to get the wrench on the nut, then I'd pull the rods and rework them.
Just pull the rods out from the headpiece end, cut off the bent threaded part, and retap the fresh ends. Not sure about the tap size, 10/32? Shortening the rods an inch wont hurt a thing.
Im not sure what to tell you about the crack...I'd ask Paul W.
Looks like its going to be a great player when you get done.

That kind of crack can surely be fixed with a simple glue job.

What a Awesome project !
Re: Look-ee what I got today for $125
Pulled the rods getting ready for the fretboard separation repair. I used a screwdriver to gently pry the truss rods out until I could get one of the nuts between the aluminum brace (not sure of it's correct term) and the nut. Then I was able to gently tap the rods back into the neck to release them from the brace. Then I easily slid them out using pliers. I kept a clamp on the neck the whole time. The ends will probably need to be re-tapped. Sorry for the ****** pictures.
