Some others I can't think of the names to that remind me of the two I just listed; in any case, they're bound to drive Collin nuts

You kidding me? I LOVE me some Pink Floyd. (It's Emerson Lake and Palmer I can't stand....and Yes. )

I play a mean "Shine on you Crazy Diamond." :)

Totally! That the PF that I truly love. I could play Interstellar Overdrive, Astronomy Domine, Arnold Layne or See Emily Play all night long too. :)

Maybe for a little Confluence fun,  we can try and set a World's record or a Guiness record, (or at least a record we can claim and post on You Tube) for most Rickenbacker 12-string and 6-string guitars and 4, 5 and 8 string basses joining together in unison on the Opening Chord of Hard Day's Night .... so much Ricken-chime that the sound waves will clean-out the air conditioning system at Backline....

Hmmm..... If only we could figure out what that opening chord is !!

I'm down with some Floyd (I can actually do drums there no problem), and can sing the Nash parts if need be. :P

We can do the HDN chord easy too. :) (Esp. if there's a piano present.)

Scott, you can invite your fellow progknowsysers if they want to jam on some numbers with us. Vito, the rest of SWB is welcome as well. :D

Kenny, any or all of the guys from KHR4 or HW are welcome as well. I might actually have some success at getting my guys to show up as well.

I know how to make that opening chord, but I'll be damned if I know what it is! I also know how to play it wrong!

We might want to think about "set lists" as that is a wide range of music we are talking about playing ...

Yeah, true. I think we're approaching the seventy or eighty song mark on the suggested list; that I can actually fake my way through a large number of these is starting to scare me...but probably not as much as it scares the ears of the people stuck listening to me fake my way through these...

Eighty songs probably only gets us 1/3 to 1/2 of the way through the jam, so keep `em coming guys, and remember to keep it simple wherever possible; in order to prevent on stage musical train wrecks, apply the "songs you can play drunk" rule, even if you don't drink!

Oh, who's up for some
Cheap Trick
Cheap Trick
Cheap Trick
?

I'd like to play "Surrender", "California Man" ("the Move" cover), and "Clock Strikes Ten."

If it'll fit...we can probably find room for it somewhere, and it'll look cool. :D

I always bring my Blonde Fender Blk Face Twin RI for the surfy and 12 stringy stuff...and an AC30, of course. I might spare you guys the "how does he fit all that gear into his Ford Focus?!" show this time by driving the Lincoln Town Car.

Since I'm new, I'll limit my suggestions to those I've already submitted becaue they pretty much represent what I play. I would be happy to contribute to finalizing the Surf set. This will be my first get-together, so if those of you who know everyone can put the other lists together we can edit and sign up.

same here. love that first e.p. and album. and also barrett's contribution to the second album, "jugband blues." not sure if you're familiar with robyn hitchcock, but i see a lot of his influences in barrett.

THAT being said, "Madonna of the Wasps" is a super rickenbacker tune (peter buck played 12 string on it), and could be an easy song to play at our shindig, mayhaps...

It's not enough just to practice the opening chord; everyone needs to practice the moptop shake and head bobbing to go along with the playing.
