New bass..

Post by cheyenne »

As some of you already know, I was playing middle-man on a deal between Jake Bartolone and a friend of mine who was looking for a nice bass to compliment his vintage '70's Burg 4001, and the C64 I sourced for him last year.

Not one to turn down what I thought was a great opportunity, I went ahead and bought Jakes Mapleglo '88 4001V63 with the intention of passing it on to my friend.

To make a long story short,,after a week or two of trying,, Bob cant come up with the funds, and I've worked out a way to keep the bass.

Its aged to a very nice yellowed mapleglo, it did have a neck crack that was pro repaired, but it has no ill effect on the bass at all, as a matter of fact, I'd have to call it one of the more "stable" bass that I've owned.

Here's a pic:

Ha! I thought there was a decent chance the bass wouldn't make it all the way to Bob ... enjoy it, it's a really good one! If I hadn't made a spring cleaning decision to trim down the herd (practically cutting my collection in half), this wouldn't have gone anywhere.

I'd love to have one, too. You're thinking of Steve Woods' SG V63. I have a "standard" 4003. They have been seen in each other's company, though, so I can understand your mistaking me for the proud owner. But then Steve and I look nothing alike!

I stand corrected, thanks Paul, however now that you pointed it out, I would also love to have your 4003 as well, I really wish Ric would make sea foam green or even turquoise a standard color, getting extremely tired of haveing to settle for the 4 same colors....

Ang, you need to stop buying new stuff and start hunting for some older funky stuff.

Yeah, you had your chance! Turquoise was a "standard" color from '91 to '03, and still pops up now and then on the used market. I was fortunate enough to purchase Steve Woods' Turquoise V63, one of only two that I know of:
