What's the difference between type I and type II Lightshows in terms of appearance, operation and value???

According to the 2009 Vintage Guitar Price Guide " The first offering, known as Type 1, had heat problems and a fully original one is hard to find. The second offering's design, noted as type 2, was a more stable design and is more highly valued in the market place. Model 331 LS 1970-71 Type 1 $13-14K 1972-1975 type 2 $16-18K". Values will be less today, but type 2 looks around 25% more than type 1.
