Hautewerk gig, 4/14/10 in OC!

Post by kennyhowes »

Here's an article about an upcoming show I thought I would share:
What do Styx, The Ramones, The Clash, Hautewerk and REO Speedwagon have in common? OK, they’re bands with a guitar emphasis but they’re also featured on Rock Band®, the popular Harmonix video game that allows players to become guitar players.

The Laguna Beach-based band will play at The White House on Wednesday, April 14 with the Small World Band opening for them
(featuring RRF forumite Vito Francone - ed.).

Founding band members Kenny Howes and John Hall will be joined by Steve Anderson, Chris Bradley and Paul Brown as they deliver original songs. Band members range in age from thirty-something to Hall, who will be celebrating his 60th birthday that night.

The entertainment starts at nine o’clock.

So here's the particulars, for those in the area:

The White House
340 South Coast Highway
Laguna Beach, California 92651
9pm

Man, makes me wish I still lived in the area - I grew up just south of you guys, in San Clemente... :(
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

I think I can drag a few of my fellow hooligans over to boost the bar sales.

Kenny or Vito:
Is this White House a decent place to get dinner before the Small World/Hautewerke shows, or would you suggest we venture elsewhere for eats ??

Yep! Kitchen closes at 9pm? 10pm? But if you're around early enough, there is food and it is good.

It was suggested that we give some information about parking near the White House.

The parking meters and ticket machines in Laguna Beach go off at 7PM, so all the streets surrounding are fair game. There's also a large parking structure on Glenneyre St. (parallels Coast Highway) just a half block up the hill, which connects to an alley that will let you in the back door of the White House. There should be plenty of free parking on both levels on a Wednesday night. There's also a smaller lot close by beside the Five Foot Two restaurant, on the corner of Glenneyre and Mermaid. Mermaid St. itself also often has weeknight parking. If you're really lazy, the library has paid parking ($10 maybe?) that's next door to the venue.

Get there early if you want one of the official Hautewerk beer mats!

Not bad! I believe a good time was had by all. We sang "Happy Birthday" at midnight, all that jazz.

Rich took photos, I bet they will appear at some point.

It was a great time! Ben was the first person I saw; he said "Everyone's here!", and he wasn't exaggerating! There was a fair spread of local forum members and Rick Folk! Paul W. was there, and Grover Jackson was even in charge on the mixing board! :) Hautewerk played two sets! Can't wait to see the pics!
