Apparently, I don't get out much. I have to include semi-famous people just to even have a list:

John Mellencamp (We are both Seymour, IN natives)
Larry Crane (former guitarist for Mr. Mellencamp)
Bob & Tom (Radio personalities)
Paula Poundstone (Comedian)
Greg Warren (Comedian)
Andy Samberg (Saturday Night Live performer)
Barry Manilow (Don't ask!!!)
Ernie Banks (Baseball Hall of Famer - Chicago Cubs)
Masaharu Morimoto (Iron Chef)

To add to my list:

Alan Funt, David Hearst, Béla Lugosi Jr.

This is a good exercise for jogging the memory, as most of these on my list were clients of mine.

Cool thread, Jake. Each year that passes finds me less and less impressed with celebrity, so I won't even bother to post my list, but I will say when you meet this person just be cool and they'll probably be cool, too. We're all just people. A nice little compliment or two is okay but don't gush! Have fun!

Most of the folks aren't super duper famous, but I suppose they're famous enough
Martha Davis-the Motels
Martin Frye-ABC
Marty Willson-Piper-The Church
Neville Staples-The Specials
Roddy "Radiation" Byers-The Specials
Robyn Hitchcock-Soft Boys, The Egyptians, Venus Three
Stan Ridgeway-Wall of Voodoo (a complete, arrogant, dickhead btw, and for no good reason)
and on a completely different note.
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas

Amusing near misses:
Bruce Foxton exiting a limousine two feet in front of me, getting out, and walking past me on his way into the Roxy when he was playing with Stiff Little Fingers.
Me: "Hey...that guy looks like Bruce Foxton."
Friend: "That is Bruce Foxton; he's playing with SLF now."

Standing right next to Susanna Hoffs for about five minutes at the "Cavern Club" in Hollwood back in the 80s, recognizing her face, but drawing a blank/not remembering her name, and wondering where the heck I knew her from; "Did I go to school with that girl? What the heck's her name?...It's...it's....ah nevermind." I remembered a few minutes later after I stepped away.

Standing next to "The Edge" in one of the bars at the Scream Club in Hollywood and ordering a cocktail as he chatted a girl up. I've never been much of a U2 fan, so I just thought, "oh...it's The Edge....Jack and Coke, please."

I held off responding because I knew my list was scanty. Living in Virginia isn't like living in California, when it comes to celebrity sightings. It's really interesting to read of all the various people you folks have met. I'd love to meet Don Rickles, but probably I'd be intimidated!

The few I remember meeting are (and "meeting" means hung out and chatted with, except for Warhol, who was at an art signing event, and Gabriel, whom I just got an autograph from):

Andy Warhol, Peter Gabriel, Tony Levin, Billy Bragg, Exene Cervanka, Tony Gilkyson, Laurie Anderson, Carey Bell, Eric Goulden (Wreckless Eric).

I've seen some actors filming in DC but didn't get near them or chat.

Add another to the list today!

Met David Caruso who was at my school campus filming CSI Miami, just minutes ago. Shook his hand, but the picture of that came out blurry--doh!

A lost of you 'youngies' wouldn't have heard of him but my only real 'star' experience was a barbecue lunch with Marty Feldman back when I was in my late teens. My sister's then husband was an Aussie actor (Bill Hunter) who was going to be Marty's 'straight man' on a comedy show tour and they had a 'get to know' barbie and booze up.
