To sell...or what to sell...

Post by Zucchero »

That is the question.

Some of you may remember be under my old name (I can't seem to get it working on the site now (los_sentidos) and the bass Jim Glenn (what a star) helped me get from the states (a 3001).

The time has come for my band to split, I bought a house and now I'm after a car (a very specific retro one!) so I'm having to decide. Do I sell the 3001 that looks, feels and IS cool (as can be seen here):

or do I sell the 4003 montezuma that I love (despite cutting me - due to how I play).

Arrgghhh!

Keep the Rickenbackers. Sell anything else.

3001 model is long scale, while the rarer 3000 is short scale.

Cool video. (What's with the jet fighters behind the band?)

The 330 is looking good. Got a few glimpses of the 3001, too.

You like the 3001, don't sell it.

The 4003 cuts you -- is that the treble p/up bezel? If that's the case, it can be fixed with a no-drill mod from Pickguardian. Then no more self-cutting excuses.

Keep 'em both, but sell the 4003 if you must part with one. Despite the rare finish color you can always find another 4003. Not especially so with the 3001.

Well, you did ask, didn't you?

Ron is right - the 3001 would be a lot harder to replace. Sell the 4003 if there is no other valuable to sell first.

Very nice video - love the song and the video. Is that your band?

Don't know why, but I might be the only one here to tell you what. Video says filmed at the Midlands Air Museum, and I see a Meteor, Hunter, Javelin, Sea Vixen, and a Gannet! 8)

Thanks for the advice guys. It's given me another perspective on things.

The binding on the 4003 cuts me (when I play gigs I move about/get too aggressive!) but that's the sound on the song  The album we did with with Gavin Monaghan and the 3001 was great but it didn't fit sonically with our indie (lite) sound.

As for the 330 I wish that baby were mine! The guitarist got it for a steal (along with the handwired Laney).

I'm selling all sorts (Hayman 1010, Traynor amp/cab, my soul...) I don't have much else left to sell now

Feel your pain - just played a 63 Jazz Bass that I fell in love with - but would have to ditch at least three basses/guitars that I swore I wouldn't part with...

Great song, by the way.

Odd that nobody asked - what is the car?

As has been noted, the 3001 would be tougher to replace and it has more of a unique mojo, so my vote goes with keeping that one. Nice video BTW.

I'm curious about the retro car you want to buy. 8)
