Ewwww!

Post by Rickenhands »

Hi Fellow Ric Freaks!

Just played my first on-stage show with my new MID 4003. My Ric delivered, and then some--I'm so proud of her. I believe there's some video, which I'll post appropriately upon receipt. I'm beyond excited at how great the bass sounded--everyone was quite complementary of her sound as well. I was traveling, so I rented an SWR combo, which equally delivered.

Anywho, the past weekend involved quite a bit of (wannabe) rock-star activity, from rehearsals to the show and the regular band what-not in between. As such, lots of sweat and smudges for the first time. Ewwww! I consider it her initial blessing.

I'm game for any suggestions on how to clean her up thoroughly and properly. I have no polish at the moment, but I've (of course) wiped her down since with the RIC polish cloth. Again, she's an October 2008 Midnight Blue (if it matters). You folks are great, and I thank you in advance for your advice, which I trust without question.

Cheers!
Man, I love my Ric!

The standard for polishing up a Rick on the forum has been to use Zymol wax with 100% cotton diaper cloths ever since Paul W. advised us of how great of a product it is.
There are numerous threads and posts on Scratch-X (a fine scratch remover), Zymol and 100% cotton diaper cloths. Most of them are probably in Paul W's. Reflection Of A Curmudgeon forum. I think Paul W's. newer preferred scratch remover is Kit Scratch Out as the formula for Scratch-X was changed a little more than a year ago and is a bit rough now for guitar finishes.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

Thanks, Joey. I'll check out Paul W's info, which I'm sure includes instructions for dummies like me?

With the 2 or 3 lengthy threads covering cleaning, there will be enough info to make your eyes roll back into your head. BUT - when you're done with the treatment, you'll need sunglasses just to look at the bass. Watch the golden highlights come out in the bubinga fretboard.

Tasty stuff. Yes, I can't wait to get this baby cleaned up. I'll want to keep her looking like new for as long as possible. The info on Paul W's thread is indeed extensive, and oh so helpful.

Cheers!
