Bass pickup question, ohms etc..

Post by crimsonghost »

Hi, Iv currenly been playing my 85 4003 alot now but im totaly unhappy with its tone.

with both pickups on full blast it sounds fairly decent but still weak and hollow..

on this bass no other positions are useable.
each pickup when soloed sounds terribly nasaly and hollow as well.

Im thinking about switching to seymour duncan pickups while also trying to keep the apperance
original.

My idea is to use a seymour duncan rickenbacker bass *neck* pickup i the bridge position, it would fit great and look even better with its chrome cover.

My question is what kind of tone can i expect from this pickup in this position? its specs are as follows.
9.0k D.C resistence
11.0k resonant peak
(this is somewhere between a quarter pound p bass and vintage jazz pup)

Thanks alot for all your help!
Jay

What kind of amp are you using and are you compairing the bass to another brand?
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!
