new member intro

Post by ayavner »

Hi all,

Thought I would stop in and introduce myself (not at all working towards my minimum posts for the marketplace or anything  ). My name is Adam, I don't currently own any Ric's but have been drooling over them forever, specifically 3xx series 12 strings. I am primarily an acoustic player, and play a Martin HD-28 and OM. I also build guitars - if you google "building a strat" or "building an OM acoustic" I believe my pages come up first.

Really looking forward to one day getting a Ric - huge fan of that sound! For now, I'll pop in and out and glean what I can so that when the time comes I can make an informed decision.

Cheers!

Adam

Welcome to the RRF! You'll find all sorts of stuff about Ricks you never knew, and probably some stuff you wish you never knew too...

Your guitar playing experience sounds similar to mine. My 360/12 is the first electric I have ever owned. I couldn't be happier. Best money I ever spent on a guitar. I'd be willing to bet that soon you'll be the proud owner of a Rick. Welcome to the RRF, Adam.

Post number 3:
Another newbie here...

Got my hands on a Ric 620 while visiting the West Coast! Fell in love wih it instantly but wasn't willing to pay the crazy price they were asking. Searching.....searching.....searching. Thirty posts before entering the marketplace. Come on! Really!?

Does anyone know if I'm wasting my time? Am I destined to find a 620 in Jetglo or Midnight Blue waiting for me?

I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for.

Of course, if you could only get into the marketplace section, they're practically giving them away there, every color imaginable, and for only 50 bucks! Yeah, right...

David: You are never wasting your time if you are talking about Rickenbackers. Welcome.

David this the second negative post that you have made on this particular subject. It is defining your attitude towards working within the rules for all to see and if you are not careful you will create a negative impression that will haunt you down the road when you might really need to be viewed favourably by our membership.

The very fact that your negative posts have already attracted the attention of Peter (Admin) and myself is not particularly a good a good thing either.

Welcome Adam! Go for a 330/12 - you could always have it turned into a double bound model by some of the specialists! :D

My boss would disagree if I'd do during working hours

Brian,

Relax...I'm a light hearted guy. Not looking to offend anyone. Just looking to feel the Ric community vibe and eventually PLAY ONE!

No more comments about the 30 post rule....really......cross my fingers.....I mean my heart.

Thanks David,

Your comments on two different threads created a bit of a stir and I am sure you would agree that it is never productive to start off on the wrong foot. I hope you find the instrument that you are looking for and that you stay around and participate in our forum. There are lots of great people here. :D

It sounds like you've got the idea, which is, mostly to have fun, learn and interact with other like-minded Ric-O-Nuts.  And hey, you're practically half way to 30 in just 2 days! :D
