As usual, too far a drive for practice, so I'll be flying blind on Saturday.

I have a link for chords for a lot of Beach Boys stuff here.

http://www.surfermoon.com/tabs.shtml#francis

Don't know if it's accurate, but if the surfees can look them over and let us know if any of these are playable, I'll try to learn some for the jam.

I'll be coming down from Oakland Tuesday evening, so I'll be haunting the basin from Wednesday on...

Wednesday I have rehearsal with Sfd. Thursday should work for me for a pre-jam; Friday night I have a tentative date, but if she comes to her senses after the end of finals, I'll be available...

No worry about crowding on Saturday; I have a couple of really fancy shoehorns from the Aldo store.

Looks like the possibility of Thursday evening shaping up for a Pre-Jam practice ..... with Friday evening really not winning too much favor. Looking at four "Yes" RSVPs for Thursday so far....

Time and place still TBD.... depends upon how many people.

Anyone else available for Thursday evening May 6th Pre-Jam ?

It looks like a certainty for a Thursday practice at my house, or as Rich calls it, "The Clauson Studio" ... :D I'm thinking if we can get a quorum amassed around 7-ish to get started that will be good. If you get there a little later (or earlier), no problem. Also, no problem if you don't want to haul all of your gear along, as I have enough amps and a few spare guitars (and basses) ...

PM me if you need directions. For those who have been here for a practice before but haven't been back for a while, be aware that the 4-way stop at Hathaway is now only a 2-way stop, so don't miss the turn.

Hey, Ricky-backers!

We of the Byrds Collective are ready, willing and anxious to play for you. We'll be there in Garden Grove at about 12ish and plan to start our "quick set" a about 1:30ish.

Now, the question is WHAT to play. We were told to do 6 or 7 songs, max. We have about 30 Byrds songs in our total repertoire. So, which ones do we do?

We were thinking along the lines of:

Mr. Tambourine Man
Feel A Whole Lot Better
All I Really Wanna Do
Bells of Rhymney
Have You Seen Her Face?
You Ain't Goin' Nowhere
Turn Turn Turn

I understand everyone wants to do an extended "8 Miles High" jam, so we'll leave that off our set list (but will certainly join in!).

But that leaves out so many great Byrds songs. So we thought we'd throw it open to requests. If you want to hear something OTHER than the songs on the set list above, let's hear it. If two or more posters agree on a suggestion, we'll make the mod. Remember, if we're going to limit it to seven, you have to kick one off the list above to add another. So, have at it, ladies and gents! I'll keep an eye on this thread to monitor suggestions.

Thanks again for inviting us. We're rarin' to go!

Well, unfortunately something has come up so I won't be able to make it after all. I might be able to stop by later in the day for a few minutes to say hello and drool over your guitars, if it's alright with you guys.

I hope you do this again soon, it sure looks like fun.

I'd love to play my FG 330/12 on some Byrds tunes.

Mr. John Hall sends his regrets, and compliments you on your taste in selecting the surf set list. :D
Could we add "Pedal Pusher" to the surf set list? I have had that song in my head for years, but I didn't remember the name of it. I looked up a Ventures "hit" list just now and guessed it might be pedal pusher, then played that selection on You Tube, and was happy to learn I was correct. I really like that song. :) Here it is if you haven't heard it: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pjj7Kldk850&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pjj7Kldk850&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>[/youtube]
and the live version:

We'll see if we can work it out. I'm sure Duff knows it.
I plan to get there around 11:00 hoping to get set up so we don't cut into our playing time.

I'm okay with either part; lead or rhythm, whichever. :D
