4003 Pickup/String Concern

Well I was able to adjust the poles underneath the G string and it is still noticeably quieter than the other 3.

I contacted Rickenbacker, explained the situation and the person I talked to said he would put the paperwork in for another G string and said, "We'll see what happens."
Not sure what that means, but he almost sounded like it was a coin toss as to whether I'd get another string. We'll see.

I can tell you this, somebody from the BGC forum sent me a set of Thomastik flats for my Hofner. I had a dead E string, contacted Thomastik and explained that the strings were given to me so I had no receipt, and they did not send me an E string, they sent me a whole new set!

This is a brand new bass right--sorry I can't remember. Anyways most Ric basses come with a really good setup from the factory, but there's always the possibility the nut or bridge is too high on the G string side and that's the problem. So you can look into that too.

If either the nut or bridge is making the action on your G string too high, this extra distance will not only make it harder to play but lower its volume. You might want to measure the string's distance from the fingerboard and pickups with a small, precise ruler, and compare the numbers to the other strings. They should all be about the same (with 1/64 to 1/32 of an inch, and no more).
