I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: Who's up for a So Cal Minicon Saturday, May 8th?
Manning the drums nonetheless. Well, kick drum at least.
Re: Who's up for a So Cal Minicon Saturday, May 8th?
I managed to catch about 10 minutes of the mini-con, near the end. It sure looks like fun and I can hardly wait for the next one!
Nice meeting you guys, and your guitars.

Yup. Fun time. I wish they'd be held every month.
Random thoughts:
Lots of surf and byrds (not the Trashmen song). Looked for the topless ladies. Didn't see any, but did notice a couple of puddles in the parking lot. With this being a warm SoCal day, the ladies might have just melted. Does silicone melt?
Got to see Joey's new kid; very, very nice. Got to meet and hear Mel. Took at least a couple of pics of her playing. It wasn't my camera, but I'm sure they'll be posted. Heard, met, and spoke with the Byrds Collective. Talented guys and very friendly. Got to see little CJ (not as tall in person). Borrowed Pat's (of the Byrds Collective) bass and hacked my way through a few songs (thanks Pat). Think I should actually learn some songs for the next jam. The tollhouse cookies were plentiful and tasty. Was impressed yet again with the fantastic, friendly folks that show up at these get-togethers. Can't wait for the next one. Thanks, Paul, for coordinating these jams.

As usual, thanks Paul. Well done.
Nice to see Dan's new toy - er -bass. Joey's too. Fabulous finish. Gary brought the 4002 and it's a GEM to play - fortunately Kenny didn't see me slapping on it. Rich, as usual, was the kind gentleman with the charts - you da man, I'd be lost without you. Though I do a pretty good job of being lost by my lonesome. Pleasure to meet you Collin. Lots of new faces and I wish I could've stayed longer.

Thanks, everybody, for a fun afternoon and evening.... So nice to see some familiar faces again, and meet some new Rickenfriends as well. Fun to play a few Tom Petty songs with you guys... If I get a little more time to prepare for the next confluece, I'll try to learn or at least get a few chord sheets for some more standards. Cheers!

Great meeting you all at the Mini-Con, & thanks to everyone who helped look for my keys. If they turn up in your pocket or bag, please PM me and I'll send you my address and a reward.
Thanks especially to Paul for all the work and the use of that great 330! And to the Byrds Collective for letting me sit in! And all you guys that sat in on the Surf set!
Aw, what the heck-Thanks everyone-I had a great time and can't wait for the next one.
Hope someone got some pix.

Extraordinaire
Wow, that was a good jam today ! I'm exhausted !
Special thanks to Mel, Ross and Steve for coming many, many miles to be with us and make it a nicer day!
And to CJ, for being here in his own way …
And Dan S. traveled half the night returning from his Phoenix gig yesterday and came to join the festivities.
The performances
by The Byrds Collective and Smiling Face Down really made it a special occasion. Nice to have Forumites bring their talented bandmates to the jam. Skip and his Surfer buddies put on a clinic in excellent surf music renditions. Our friends in The Byrds Collective
stayed and jammed the rest of the afternoon with us
-- nothing but smiles on everybody's faces. Thanks Pat, Mark, Dave, Ken and Dave ---- you guys really added something special to the event.
And as usual, we are grateful that several drummers today did an extra-ordinary job !!!
Lots of good music, good cookies, pizza and refreshments kept it a lively afternoon. Good to see Joey feeling a little better and getting around. Nice that Scottie could come by and special welcome to newbies Colin and David – thanks for stopping by and we hope you got a little taste of confluencing. Very cool that Collin and Kenny brought their Light Shows and added to the festivities. And I can’t remember how many jammers we had participating in our Mini Con rendition of Hard Days Night, but that was pretty cool.
The fellowship of the Rickenbacker community is really something special in itself. I would also like to thank Diane, Joey and Tom for taking some pictures when I was jamming.
And very special thanks go out to Paul A.

(Yes, the first and last pictures in this set look a little strange ... the flasj didn't work right, so they came out too dark and I used the 'instant fix' feature to try to 'correct' them ...
