Black absorbs all colours of spectrum, so you COULD say it IS all colours..........

Re: Rickenbacker Production Schedule
And then there's the theoretical so called "Black Body" which absorbs all electromagnetic radiation falling on it and emits light incandescently, the color depending on the temperature. So, depending on just how hot it is, it could be said to be any color...Rickygirl wrote:Black absorbs all colours of spectrum, so you COULD say it IS all colours..........

I guess it depends which scientist you ask. The physicist in me tends to agree with you. Are there any chemists around?Rickygirl wrote:Black absorbs all colours of spectrum, so you COULD say it IS all colours..........

Re: Rickenbacker Production Schedule
Looks like a whole bunch of Rics were shipped last week. No 620 in Midnight Blue. Sadness abounds
Does anyone know what the typical waiting period would be? I believe I placed my order about 12 months ago. I've heard some people say a year and some people say two years.

I don't know how well chemistry could define this; color is a visual perception, so it involves light (or lack thereof) and its reflection and transmission. Primarily physics, interpreted via biology, I suppose it's safe to say.
Color theory basics:
There are two ways that the visible spectrum works--by reflection of light (from a colored surface) and by mixing the light itself. Colors perceived through reflection are typically blended as red, yellow, and blue, in the subtractive method, just like you mix paint in a can. So, a can of red with some yellow mixed in would give you some shade of orange, depending on the colors you started with and their intensities and tints or shades. This method would apply to pigmented coatings, such as paints and dyes.
However, colors perceived by mixing light itself (as in theatrical spotlight gels and the light transmitted through them) use red, green, and blue, and the colors that result are quite different from those obtained by the subtractive method.
The most obvious difference is that, if you mix all colors subtractively (as paint), the resulting color will approximate black. (In practice, it's a muddy dark gray, because the colors we use aren't intense enough). However, if you mix all colors additively, the resulting color will approximate white.
For a demonstration and better explanation, see:

I wish I still had my Mets yearbooks from the early/mid 60s.
Let go Nationals!

Re: Rickenbacker Production Schedule
Ok. thanks!
Darn.. that means that the 620.12's that are " out there " right now.. are it for awhile..
and would appear they won't cycle back into production again for a year or two... ..
Since resale on current model RIC's is so high ( ie. 10% . -15% less than new. ) I'd just as soon be able to buy one new.. See it/touch it/play it.. no issues. no history, with warranty... rather than deal with remote sales.. eBay.. forum. .shipping etc.
and there is a beautiful 620.12 MID at my local retailer.. right now.. ..8-(
I simply don't have the $$ to nab it..
so we'll just see what's available when I have the money.!

Do you have the credit? I bought ours on credit.I simply don't have the $$ to nab it..
You are talking about something that is hard to find. Since I have money 0% of the time and credit 100% of the time - well you see what I mean?
