Cleaning stuff available out of USA

Post by Fabiob »

Hi Lads,
I'm new to this forum, and now a proud new Italian owner of a brand new 4003 JG (the very 1st Rick in my life !!). I had a
look in here for cleaning suggestion, and the stuff you all mention, Zymol, is of course not available here in Rome.
I was using Fender's Meguiar's products on all my other basses (except on my dearest Hofners v62 & v63, of course), and I'd like to have a suggestion
from you for a similar general product which I can find here in Italy at musical stores ( i.e Fender's Meguiar's product or similar), to mantain my
4003 clean and shining (it came not really shining, quite a little bit opaque...). I want that famous mirror glaze on it, as it should be.

By the way, mfg date is April 2010, and I bought it last Monday !
Tks so much for your suggestion!

Congrats on the 4003!

For the Zymol, have you tried automotive parts/care shops? It's mainly aimed at the automotive market, not guitars. I see from Google that they have teamed up with Ferrari for some kind of special wax, so one might think it's available somewhere in Italy.

Hmm, on the Zymol website, they mention Munich, London & Paris as European locations, so perhaps you could order some. Here's their contact page:

I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

It is called "Zymol Cleaner Wax". It is light blue in color.
Edit: I see that one online seller says it is product number "Z-503"

Fabio,

If you can't find it, let me know.

I can order it from my local hardware store and have it shipped to you IF customs allows such things to go through.

IF I remember correctly, I paid about $16.00 USD last time I bought it....its' been a while and my memory isn't what it once was!
