Is this one of us?

Scuttle Buttin' on a 360:

I stumbled upon this today. This guy frikken' ROCKS! If he's one of us, then consider this my official high five. I don't get over here to the Guitars section much. I guess I'm sort of a bass hermit. I LOVE to hear someone play the heck out of a Rick 6 string though, and that he does!

Please excuse me if this has been discussed before. I did a search and didn't find anything on it.

Those were very tasty licks and plus he shows what a 360 can sound like in the right set of hands. :D

I really can't stand 98% of SRV (save for "Lenny") but that can nailed it, great playing. 8)

Must be a fake. Everyone knows you can't play that kind of music on a Rickenbacker.

I liked it, but I also like SRV. There is at least one picture of him playing a Rickenbacker himself. If I remember correctly, it was an older style 360 with a large body and smaller horns.

Also, on the Rickenbacker Forum there is a thread that mentions he was in one of their advertisements. "There's also a pic of him with a Ric in a promo ad, it's the back of a Rickenbacker with the word "Stingray" on it in sticker-letters." Here is the picture:

There are a couple of clips out there of SRV ripping it up on an acoustic 12-string, to good effect. It seems like the trick to playing good leads on a Ric is to be like the bumblebee -- ignore those who tell you it can't be done.

The story of this kid and his recordings is really interesting. He is a Frenchman with a virtual band including a guitar player from Japan and a drummer from the USA. They record their own parts at home and remotely mix them for Youtube. They have never met in person. Check out frenchytouch or Virtual Beatles on Youtube. They are included in this clip:

Amen! That guy sure can pick. And, for the SRV-haters out there (of which I'm not one--I dug Stevie because all his favorite players are also some of my favorites too, and he did a damn fine job of paying tribute to all those guys while managing to sound exactly like himself), Scuttle Buttin' is, I believe, actually a Lonnie Mack tune.

I really like this original tune too:

Be careful. It can get stuck in your head!
