Say hello to my "little" (Ha!) friend....

Post by Danotron »

I had the opportunity to buy a Rickenbacker Transonic 200 and I went for it. You don't see these very often and I think they are super cool! The Led Zeppelin connection alone makes them legendary.

This one belonged to Doug Fieger, the lead singer and guitar player for The Knack, who sadly, recently passed away. It came with road cases which were a big help because this amp is HUGE! He also had, and the family gave me, an original "Rickenbacker Transonic Sound Series Systems" fold out catalog. It has an wildly psychedelic black and white cover and shows all of the Transonic's, as well as a 4005 bass, a Ric banjo (that has a round body), and a 366.

I have a few new terms to learn about like Rick-o-Gain and Rick-o-Select, but we plugged it in and it's loud and it rocks! I'll try and scan in some pictures of the catalog when I get the chance. Sorry for the long post but I just got home and I'm all excited.

Coming soon to a Mini-con or other Southern California Rickenbacker event soon, here's a few shots

Thanks!

I'm going to see if I can get My Sharona added to the minicon set list :)

Here's a little teaser from the catalog...... (by the way, if you click on the picture of the cover to enlarge it, and scroll your screen up and down a bit, it appears to be moving 8) )

Very cool, Dan! That amp and the catalog really bring back the spirit of the time they were made. And the celebrity connection - road case and all, I love it. 8)

You could always try this version, too:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/C4_G7HHJ0GE&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/C4_G7HHJ0GE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>[/youtube]
