RIP Ronnie James DIO

Post by nattiep »

It was called a hoax yesterday. All I read today said that it was still a hoax. But at 2:51 Wendy Dio confirmed it.

"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

- Wendy Dio "

He was by far the most CONSISTENT metal singer I've ever heard. I saw him with Heaven And Hell in 2007. He was pure POWER. I miss him already.

Though not a fan of that genre of music, I did once meet RJD at the airport. He was quite kind and funny.

my band warmed up for him in toronto at the CNE around the late '80's with malmsteen as the second opener. came to our dressing room befor our show to say hi ! also met him in a bar with our producer andy johns during our 1990 L.A. pre-production rehearsals for recording "dirty weapons". nicest guy ever. he told us he was the original dwarf as his early band was called "elf" !

very sad to see this thread. he'll be missed. loved "tarot woman" from rainbow.

Rest in peace in the Temple of the Kings, Ronnie.

I still vividly remember frequently listening to the "Black Sabbath-Heaven and Hell" and "Rainbow-Rising" albums while I was a teenager!

He definitely had one of the best Heavy Metal voices ever.

I got to see him with Black Sabbath on the Black and Blue tour (with Blue Oyster Cult) back in the day.

He will live on in his music. R.I.P.
