What model is this JG guitar?

Post by paul_yan »

Hi gang, I don't remember ever seeing something like this: 325/350 body and dot inlays, 3 pickups and an F hole. The only thing clear to me is she was made in January 1976.

So what model is this?

Thanks for the quick answer, Scotty! :D

Is it a 325 size or a 350 size?

Is a 320/6 f hole rare?

Kinda unusual to see them with Hi-Gains and the f-hole but other than that seems a straightforward '70s/80s 320.

A lot of people don't realize that with the exception of Lennon-owned 325s and a scant few others, the 325/320/315/310 line featured an f-hole up until the early 80s (or thereabouts).

Paul:

Where is this guitar from? I would like to add it to the register as a collected item.

I own a 70's JG 320 without the f-hole, RIC made them both ways at the time.

I suspect the F Hole isn't factory, due to the rounded-over top edge and the shape:

However, with F-Holes being so rare in the '70s, maybe it's a factory one-off.

I bought one in the mid 70s new. No sound hole. Mark

Here's an early '70s (73?) one for sale at Cream City (Milwaukee). Note the sound hole. Looks factory--closer to 2 than 1 o'clock F hole with proper shape, square top edges. Note the crisp angles on the "F" kinks.
