Hey guys - just a basic reminder for those new to posting music on the forum. Before you can post a song on the forum, you need to upload it to a music hosting site like Myspace or the like. Actually, Myspace is the last place I'd recommend posting. It's a good music networking site, but they compress the he|| out of your songs to the point that the fidelity is greatly compromised. Here are some of the sites that I'd recommend:
Bandcamp Allows you to upload your songs as WAV, AIFF, or FLAC! You can also set up a merchant page here.
ReverbNation
Soundclick
Soundcloud
CDbaby
Once you've posted your song on one of these sites, the song player or page that your song appears on will have it's own URL. Example:
http: //walker.bandcamp.com/track/sostenuto
Simply cut & paste that address into the body of your post, highlight it, then click on the URL tab on the composition page, and your URL should be linked, like this:
http://walker.bandcamp.com/track/sostenuto
If you want to get all fancy-schmancy with the link, code your URL like so:
Sostenuto (those dots represent the full URL for this example)
then your link will look like this:
Sostenuto
To check up on your links before posting, preview your post first.
For videos, YouTube and Vimeo seem to be the main sites to post. Once you establish that URL, say this one for example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4CM1RZgNwA
...simply get rid of all the coding from 'http' to the '=' sign, in this case leaving 'i4CM1RZgNwA.' Highlight that, then click on the 'youtube' tab to embed your video into your post, comme ça:
