What a beautiful RIC family..

Let me ask: What are the big differences between: 24 fret neck and 21 fret neck ( and subsequent pickup spacing )
tone? balance of the guitar/neck/body ?

or is it more: the pickup choices..

New 350v63 has three 7.4k Toasters..

I see your Liverpool has HB at the bridge.. and Hi-Gains mid and neck.. ( Stock was 3 High Gains? . .. so you replaced the Bridge? )

and I think the SH has HB at the bridge.. and <? K> toasters mid and neck..

Since the Liverpool and SH are no longer in production. ( read: tougher/more expensive to find )

One can at least get a 350v63.. and then replace the bridge with a HB .. and replace the neck and/or mid pickup .. as Toasters fetch $150 each!

Interesting: I see current eBay listings for: " 350v63 Liverpool "... that have 3 toasters and 21 fret.. so it appears some < many?> just think a 350 ... is a Liverpool !

I need to correct my misunderstanding.. ( that the older model - 24 fret version - was denoted as " Liverpool " )

Ric's own web site model listing - shows the current model as: " 350v63 Liverpool " ( .. 21 fret, toaster pups. ) So Liverpool is still part of it's name.

and to add to the confusion: the Ric web site listing shows the "350/12v63 Liverpool" ( does note it is discontinued )
In the spec listing: says it's a 21 fret.. but the picture they used- is a 24 fret!

Sounds like "Liverpool" has always been part of the model name.. and in about 1996 when they changed it to vintage reissue, it became 21 fret . and likely added the " v63 "

Maybe before 1996 .. it was just model " 350 Liverpool "

I'm still curious re: sound.. different than the 600 solid bodies.. . but not as " airy " as the bigger hollow body 300 series ?

Mark I am not an expert on the time lines or naming conventions associated with the 350 model. I can tell you that with the right amplification (I use a Peavey 212 Stereo Chorus) that my 350 is perfectly suitable for playing lead and in particular the blues. It has loads of sustain and sounds like a cross between a Stratocaster and a Les Paul.

While I don't have the money.. I can still spend time compulsing on the model 350... that's free !

What would be the difference < if any > between what was the 350/12v63... and the 355 12 JL . .other than the "artist" designation. and the limited production of the JL..

I think both have.. full Scale.. 21 fret necks.. 3 toasters.. trapeze.. < ? >

I recently saw a 355 12 JL w/ no bid at a start of $2100.. yet another one sold for BIN of $2130.. . so I will gather that's about it's waterline: $2100.

if they are basically the same guitars. .< ? > is the 350/12v63 generally LESS $$ ? ( I would hope.. since it's not limited/artist model . )

and if anyone has any links to clips that showcase how the 350 sounds ( either 6 or 12 string ) .. that would be great!

I've got kind of a dumb question -- did the 350 exist before the Susanna Hoffs sig model? Seems like she wanted a 325 with a full-scale neck and a humbucker, and that's what they came up with. Doesn't seem like the 350 actually existed in 1963, but I could always be wrong...

Since it's too late to edit my original post, I'll amend it here.

The Bacon & Day book sez that the "350 Liverpool" was introduced in 1983, and the 1988-1990 SH model was a special version of that.
