I wouldn't put anything past the younger generation, especially with this group.

Re: San Francisco Bay Area Confluence ?
Oh, how I'd love to attend. I've been living in the Bay Area for the last 3 1/2 years. Alas, I'm moving to the Portland, OR area at the end of June. Perhaps I can make it back down.
Man, I love my Ric!

Yup, put me in the "likely" category.....gotta make sure first, but I think my schedule (and my van) are open.8mileshigher wrote:Don't forget Collin W. -- he has the big van !kiramdear wrote:Just a quick scan tells me we already have the following members on board for this:
Not bad for starters.
Why, thankya.paologregorio wrote: Collin's one of the youngest guys of all and he knows even some of the more obscure 60s stuff, so don't count out the "young 'uns".
Glad my 60's geek-talents are so widely regarded!

Add Collin and Steve to the above list.

Better stick to soda pop next time, CJ!

Re: San Francisco Bay Area Confluence ?
I think I'm on the wrong side of the tracks. East Bay is my location. Would I still be allowed to attend ?
It's too early in the morning to talk about our relationship !
Re: San Francisco Bay Area Confluence ?
East Bay representing!
Yes, please, Rick, come if you want to. Guests and significant others are also welcome.
We're just at the planning stage and just waiting for consensus on a date. So far the 24th of July is looking like a good day for a majority of people. How do you feel about that?

Yeah, I'm no spring chicken, either! My list had stuff from the 50s-80s--stuff I can halfway play. I figured the Beatles, Byrds, etc. would be well-represented as always. I think we have to include some Airplane in there somewhere.
Paulie--when you say "first two" do you mean Afoot and Cypress or Cypress and Big Plans? I've got all of it including Every Dog and, of course, Dynamico. What are your favorites? I really like Waters Part, Blue Line, Every Word Means No, etc. It's all good! If you don't have Every Dog you should get it! There's some great guitar driven stuff on there.
Sorry Kira--you're herding cats now! Hey, look! There's some string! <runs off>

Herding cats, eh? Sounds familiar ...
We've apparently got about 15 or 16 on board and with partners and guests should turn into twenty or more. That's fabulous!
I'm glad the music discussion is already started but let's return to the date. I'll be bold and suggest that if anyone isn't good for the 24th of July let them speak up now or risk missing the fun.

Re: San Francisco Bay Area Confluence ?
I was referring to "Afoot" and "Cypress" I don't have Big Plans or Every Dog. I could get ahold of those though. I suggested Let's Active a few confluences back, but I was greeted with quizzical looks and blank stares that surpassed those I faced when I first suggested Echo and the Bunnymen and The Church...analogpackrat wrote:Yeah, I'm no spring chicken, either! Kira--7/24/10 is OK by me. Can I talk about the music now?

Ha ha! I imagine bands like The Mighty Lemon Drops, Ride, or Guadalcanal Diary would receive a similar response! 20+ years ago the band I was in played a few Church tunes (Tantalized, Under the Milky Way, and Reptile) as well as Echo & B-men (Rescue, Lips Like Sugar, All in Your Mind), but I was the synth/keys player back then. It would be fun to try some of those on guitar. And don't forget Ian's solo stuff which is also quite nice...paologregorio wrote: I was referring to "Afoot" and "Cypress" I don't have Big Plans or Every Dog. I could get ahold of those though. BUMP
We're looking at the 24th of July for the big date. Yea or nay, any comments about that?
Also, the two rooms are about 300 sq. ft. each and we have 15 to 20 on board already. Do you think we'll need both of them? It would be nice to have the place virtually to ourselves, but, of course, it will cost more. Comments?
