New Rickenbacker 12 string book

Post by radioactive »

I've had the new Tony Bacon book titled "Rickenbacker Electric 12-String : The Story of the Guitars, the Music, and the Great Players" on order with Amazon.com for about six months now. They ( Amazon) keep sending me emails advising that theres a delay and the new ship date is being revised, now to the end of Jamuary 2010. I checked the publisher's website Hal Leonard, and that site says it'll be released March 15, 2010. Anyone know the skinny on this book and when it will be available? Thanks, Rob

Here's a portion of an email I received from Tony on January 4:

"Just to let you know that the publication date for the Rickenbacker 12-string book is now set for late next month, February. Please let me have a mailing address and I'll be sure to send you a copy when it appears."

Hope that helps.

Well, we have January, February, March. At least that narrows it down...

Any update on the book release date, apparently it was supposed to be released on March 15th, 2010 according to Hal Leonard, but that date has passed, now the site says it's unavaulable.

Stan... are you stateside? Seems like the book has been available in the UK and Europe for some time now.

Unless they moved Texas, yeah, I am. :D I got the book from an independent dealer selling through Amazon. The book is also available through the Backbeat web site. As far as I know you just can't find it in a store.

That book sounds very intriguing. Can anyone tell me if it was worth the wait?

I've had one on order through Amazon for a year, and it's due to ship by TODAY. I'm waiting for an official Amazon e-mail; either confirming shipment or delaying it once again. It's certainly been frustrating, as Amazon has been showing the book for so long, and, for whatever reason, hasn't delivered.

It's really an updated version of The Rickenbacker book that he and Paul Day did back in the 90's.
There are some new interviews and some lovely new pics!

He also takes a look at the history of the 12 string electric guitar in general.

Got mine yesterday. The book is ok but I thought it was a new release focused only on 12 strings model instead an update of the old book released in the 90s... :(
