I just bought a 1966 360/12 that needs new strings.

Rounds/compressed wound: Either Rick strings or D'Addario 12 string electric sets.

Flatwound (vintage sound)--Thomastik-Infeld flatwound 12-string set from Chris Clayton at Pick of the Ricks.

Avoid Pyramids--tension is too high on the modern ones and nickel content is down.

The TI flats have a nice soft sound and feel, but they're a bit of work, being .010 gauge ...

I use Dr. Ducks. http://www.ducksdeluxe.com/strings.html They are great strings and try beating the price when you buy four sets ($7.00/set) :D

I've been using the Curt Mangan on the 6 string and I really like how they feel.

On a 12'er I have used Rick compression roundwounds and TI flatwounds. I like the TI's, more vintage-y sound.

The combination of a Rickenbacker twelve (doesn't much matter which one) a JangleBox, TI Jazz Flats and a very thin flatpick gives me easy playability and all the chime I could ever want.

Todd,

What brand and gauge flatpick do you use? (Rudy's Music Shop in NYC used to make medium gauge picks and that's what I still use on my 330/12.)
