My new little red tulip
For some reason, I had the bug to try an older Ric and find myself pleasantly surprised w/my tulip ES-16 (Electro) that just arrived today. It's spec'd as a 3/4 but it looks baby-like compared to my 1996. Nevertheless, I am in hog electro heaven. I enjoy the sound of the pick/electronics as well (esp the gain switch).
It is small though.....

PS: Have a great holiday weekend.

Ooh, Nice! Congrats!
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
Re: My new little red tulip
Congrats, Chris! I really like those sweet little tulip models.
All I wanna do is rock!
Re: My new little red tulip
What's with the TRC?
Re: My new little red tulip
Good catch. Kevin flagged me on that as well. Up close it almost looks original, yet I realize it does not match the standard TRC for these guitars.

Yeah, never saw one with embossed metal, only the funny-shaped TRC with "Electro" screened on the back...very cool!abluesky wrote:Good catch. Kevin flagged me on that as well. Up close it almost looks original, yet I realize it does not match the standard TRC for these guitars.

Re: My new little red tulip
The embossed rectangular tags were used on Electro amplifiers and lap steels. Looks like somebody cared enough to chase one down and make up a plate.
Re: My new little red tulip
Did you buy that from Bernunzio?
Re: My new little red tulip
Cool, I have always heard good things about those guys. I just bought a 1000 from a guy in Portland that is your Electro's twin. Is yours a neck-through?
Re: My new little red tulip
Yes....neck-through. So far so good. Makes me want to get a es-17.
Cool little guitars.

Mine will be here in a few days. I have owned other short scale stuff and know that they are sensitive to string choice. On my Gibson ES140, I use light top heavy bottom which are 10's up top and with 052 on the low E - a good set up if you want to keep a clear bottom with more bendable E and B strings. I am going to try a set on the 1000 but would like to hear how you string-up your and how it works out?
