Dave Pascoe bass
This vid shows the Jon Camp bass with the black painted headstock, see at 1:03.
Re: Dave Pascoe bass
I thought that Rober Moretti (bassman_bob) was the owner of Great White? Did he sell it?
Notice the added 21st fret, DiMarzio P pickup, phase switch, and non-yellowed white refin.
In the video I see an Ibanez Eagle bass, refinished in white (must be a habit of Camp's). They had a 33 1/2" scale, almost like a Ric.

The 4001 is sitting on a stand in front of and a bit to the right of the drums. In the shot at 1:03 you can clearly see the headstock at the bottom of the frame. When I saw Renaissance in '79 the bass was still in it's original condition.
Re: Dave Pascoe bass
Thanks Jeff... I see it now.
I have a special interest in that bass because (a) I have always loved Camp's playing in Renaissance, and (2) I own a '73 white 4001... a Great White in itself
Did the bass change hands? And if it did, can I have first dibs when/if it's offered for sale again?

Re: Dave Pascoe bass
Chris Brubeck's has a similar-looking headstock.
Re: Dave Pascoe bass
Chris's '69 bass has a bound headstock that came like that from the factory. The walnut wings give it that similar appearance.cassius987 wrote:Chris Brubeck's has a similar-looking headstock.

Dave still has it that I know of. I think that I am first in line if Dave decides to sell it. Dave?ilan wrote:Did the bass change hands? And if it did, can I have first dibs when/if it's offered for sale again?
When it was fist sold on ebay UK I wanted to buy it but I had no experience in international dealings so I passed it up. It was bought by a forumite here in the US and subsequently bought by Dave. I have played it, at the last MARF; I don't suppose anybody has pics of me playing it, besides the group photo Shari did of us there?

No, it did not come like that from the factory--he has said that it was the result of a repair after the bass took a spill.wints wrote:Chris's '69 bass has a bound headstock that came like that from the factory. Ah ha! Yes, that headstock doesn't look stock!cassius987 wrote:No, it did not come like that from the factory--he has said that it was the result of a repair after the bass took a spill.wints wrote:Chris's '69 bass has a bound headstock that came like that from the factory. In that case, I wonder if the binding is still original on the headstock of Chris's bass. He stated he bought one of the first around '69, and we had a similar bass, also MG, owned by a member here that could well have been it's twin, also with the bound headstock...
