Markbass Little Mark II question

I just picked up a nice Markbass Little mark II (Marco Ltd. Edition), and have a question.

Where do all you Markbass users usually run your pre-gain?

I usually just start slapping a string while turning up the pre until the "clip" light illuminates and then back it off slightly until it quits...but with this amp the light doesnt come on until its about 3/4 the way up. resulting in me setting the pre at about 2:00 o'clock. Seems awful high to me. Is this normal?

Position doesn't matter (well, perhaps it does in some cases ) as basses have varying output levels so go with the LED. I usually just set mine to straight up, this way it is easy for me to get back to the same setting if I turn the input down to change instruments or to tune up if I have the tuner in line with my bass.

Talk about an understatement! With the LMKII coupled with two Markbass cabs, I have the best-sounding and lightest bass rig around. Their stuff is nothing short of amazing.

I did a gig yesterday using my Markbass LMK head and a Begantino cab with a 12" neo speaker. With my bass in a gig bag, I was able to carry everything from my car to the stage in one trip! I love technology - especially when it sounds so good!

I have a GK 112-II NEO and it sounds really big with the Little Mark. Total package is around 43lbs.

OK,,I'm liking this thing even more today. It sounds so good on its own, I took my VT pedal out of the chain.

It fits under my workbench too.

The VT is still very useful for getting a nice growl/grit to the tone. I only sold mine when I bought the LA-610 Mk II.

Your right Jeff, I put the VT back in the chain. These little amps are very "warm" sounding. Whats some suggested settings for a "bright" "crisp" sound? I guess I'm too used to my GK 700RB tone.

I have'nt had it very loud yet either do to my neighborhood being very quiet, and the past holiday weekend. I'm thinking with volume will come all the overtone goodness that only being loud can provide.

Also,,how do you guys approach your two "filter" knobs? I almost want to set the preamp knobs flat and adjust the overall tone with these two knobs. Am I being crazy?

The sound will open up when you can finally crank it up. I very rarely use the EQ controls, sometimes just the bass control rolled off to around 10:00 depending on the bass I'm playing or the room acoustics.

Most of the time I use just the VPF at around 8-9:00 if at all, and sometimes the VLE which can vary quite a bit, mostly depending on what bass I am using at the time and what tone I am looking for; it can go from fully CCW to around 2:00! many times the amp is just set flat with both the VLE and VPF set to off; with a great sounding bass and cabinet, flat setting sound great,especially in a full band playing situation.
