There seems to be some last minute guitar changing going on during the drum intro. As nice as Zander's guitar is, Nielson's guitar is something I haven't seen. Any ideas?

The headstock puzzles me. Otherwise, I'd say it's one of the early Hamer Explorer copies made for Neilson.

You're right, that is an odd one for him. I'm thinking it is a Japanese guitar he picked up when over there for the Budokan shows. I know he picked up an Iceman (seen on the Budokan LP) and a few others while over there. That Reading show is a great one to watch, the whole concert is on YouTube.

Greco, I'll bet.

I think it used to belong to Johnny Ramone.

The rumor is that Zander's guitar did, however, pictures exist of him using it long before the alleged mishap.

Rick's guitar is a Greco. IIRC, there was some sort of contest before they got to Japan to design a guitar that was presented to Nielsen, and that was the Greco. I'd heard Ramone's name mooted before for that Rickenbacker that Robin plays but have never seen nor heard anything concrete. Looks like Tom is playing his 8 string Alembic in that clip, from the brief period he was between Hamer 12 strings.
